2025 Release 4 (w/c 29 September 2025)

New effects, blocks, features and options to optimise your site as we head into the winter.

New features

• Redirects can now be added and managed in the CMS. There is a new "Redirects" tab in the Content section. Note: pre-launch redirects should still be done in the usual way, using the separate redirects file
• New full-page screen effects: the snow effect has been reworked with extra settings, and there are new smoke and fireworks effects, each with various settings. These can be set site-wide or per page
• The "Split section" block width can now be restricted to the width of the content area, using a new "Compact layout" setting
• The "FAQ search section" can now be added as a block to any page. It searches all the FAQs in the current site
• Canonical page updates: new layout options for the canonical page listing, found in Page Settings. Choose from Signpost panel (the current layout), Signpost panel with overlaid content, or Split section
• Captions can now be added to images. Captions are set on the media item and switched on when the image is added to a block or page
• New "Signpost panel section" block, available in all block editors, with various layout options and settings

Minor updates

• New CMS fields on the FAQ listing page to override "Search section title" and "Category listing title"
• A "Category repository" can now be created under "Global news listing", for global news categories
• New "Align content centre" setting on the Signpost panel section. Set to true to align content in the centre for all panels
• SVG files can now be uploaded to the CMS and used in: footer partner logos, hero content with logo, background images, fixed backgrounds, and the image with text carousel
• Links are no longer required on Signpost block items
• The "Call to action section" on Site Settings and on all pages now allows any block to be added

Bug fixes

• Typo fix on the FAQ listing page
• Site search on mobile now works when the mega menu is used
• The "Include global news" setting on location News Listing pages now pulls through global news articles
• Fixed the order events were displayed in on the Event listing page. It was wrong because the listing included event instances that had already passed
• The site no longer errors if there is no "Highlights link" set in the Mega menu settings

Media upload checks

When you upload an image, or save an existing one, the CMS now checks its size. At the time of this release:

• Images could not be wider or taller than 5,000px. Larger images were blocked, with a message asking you to resize and try again
• Other files (such as PDF and DOC) could not be larger than 15MB. Larger files were blocked, with a message asking you to compress or save them in a different format

These checks help keep your hosting plan efficient and avoid unnecessary plan upgrades. The limits were raised in the July 2026 release (images up to 10,000px, other files up to 20MB).
