LOOP Sites Just Got Their Biggest CMS Update Yet

Umbraco 17 upgrade for LOOP sites

Your LOOP site is getting its biggest CMS update yet, and you probably won't notice. That's the idea.

There's no redesigned homepage and no list of flashy new features. Day to day it won't look much different, and a few small things behind the scenes might take a moment to get used to. The value is underneath.

Every couple of years the CMS behind LOOP needs a major refresh just to stay supported. LOOP runs on Umbraco and we stick to Long Term Support (LTS) versions. Umbraco 13 reaches end of life in December 2026, so we're moving every site to Umbraco 17.

What it brings:

  • Years of extra security cover, and the ability to patch quickly when new issues appear
  • A faster, more efficient engine on newer, better supported technology
  • A more modern editing experience for anyone on your team who updates the site
  • More headroom if you add lots of content or get busier
  • The first groundwork for AI-assisted tools, with the hooks built into the CMS for us to use

We've seen quotes of up to £15k for this kind of upgrade elsewhere. For LOOP clients it's free. Downtime is under 15 minutes and there's nothing to scope, quote or sign off. Core releases, patches, maintenance, hosting and CMS support are all part of your package.

If you're still on Umbraco 13 or older with another supplier, it's worth sorting now. Moving to LOOP can work out cheaper than upgrading, and your team keeps the CMS they already know.
